Meet Gilbert! He is the newest member of the Power Family! I never in a million years saw us as a family with so many pets, but never the less, we are happy that Gilbert made his way into our home!! *We might actually owe our dog Gracie a big thanks for bringing Gilbert to us....straight from her mouth to the back porch* :) When Gilbert first arrived on our porch, I wasn't sure what we were going to do with "it". All I knew was I had two little boys who were very much in love with this turtle. Once Joe got home from school, we debated back and forth whether to return it to its outside environment and break the boys' hearts, or adopt it as a pet. By this point, Nathan had already named "it" Gilbert. We made it a temporary home in a crate for the night, and ventured to the pet store the next day. It was two days and three trips to the pet store later that we decided to bite the bullet and adopt Gilbert, which turned out to be a boy after all. I wasn't thrilled at the thought of spending almost $300 on a new "house" for Gilbert, but I also realize my children are growing up, and precious moments like these will someday come to an end; a few hundred dollars is nothing compared to the lasting memories that will come with our new pet. You should see the joy in the boys' eyes and faces when they hold and feed Gilbert!! *heart just melts* So, welcome to the family Gilbert!! May you always have plenty of warmth and comfort!!
